Response to "Making Space"

Post by samanthacollins » 20 Sep 2019, 17:44

What we are trying to accomplish in the course is being able to make the space and time to create knowledge for ourselves and for our peers. We are looking up new words and old words and defining them in a way that we understand after we look them up in a print dictionary. This is different! I like this way of thinking and how it is different than all my other classes. Its all about adjusting, and getting comfortable with the fishbowl and the rest is up to us to create responses and replies that we can look back on and share with each other.

Response to "Re-structuring Text"

Post by samanthacollins » 20 Sep 2019, 17:49

Sharing our posts allows us to re-structure them in our own words. This method of learning is helpful when I am unsure of what to write or where to start on a post. Being alone allows for thinking and limited distractions, although it is difficult for me to sit and write with zero distractions like my phone or the tv. By practicing writing and responding, these distractions will become easier to ignore.

Response to "Sharing what we see and when we read"

Post by samanthacollins » 20 Sep 2019, 18:12

Learning that we will have a series of 100 letters is overwhelming and intense, but I’m ready to take on the challenge that is this course and learn from my peers and Professor Dugal about how societies are formed. Through the fishbowl, the society we are forming is based on the words we use and the images that are seen through those words. Through our differences in responses, we can learn from each other and about ourselves. We learn about ourselves, about how we are responding vs. how our peers are responding and figuring out what images we want to portray with the words we use.
