Re: Response to Letters: pursuing international conferences
I am still amazed at the possibility of our works being depicted in the abstract.

Re: Response to Letters: Knowledge construction in a knowledge economy
I was quite interested by Sub-theme 18, "Collaborative Dynamics Among & Around Alternative Organizational Forms." The main statement that caught my eye was, "Backed by like-minded social movements such as the environmental, transition, degrowth or Occupy movements (Rao et al., 2000; Reinecke, 2018; Schneiberg, 2013; Sine & Lee, 2009), alternative organizations not only experiment with distinctive organizational forms and practices, they also collaborate to pursue institutional change towards more sustainable, if not “postcapitalist”, economies (Barin Cruz et al., 2017; Parker et al., 2014; Zanoni et al., 2017) " (Audebrand, Barros, Hybrechts, "Sub-theme 18: Collaborative Dynamics Among and Around Alternative Organizational Forms"). In a way, the fishbowl is an alternative organization. We are all attempting to become more open, form a society for the better. We are collaborating without many realizing it. We impact one another, and soon we will impact outsiders.

Re: Response to Letters: friendship again
IV. People who can be friends:
One of the sentimental statements made was this small paragraph:
"A friendship is between the people who are friends, the unconstrained people who come to feel spontaneous affection for, and so befriend, each other. To speak of friendship, then, is to speak of people as responding to an internal spring of motive; their sentiments. Without the presence of people construed in this way, the sort of people who are capable of friendship, we must speak of co-workers who get on together, of kin who feel the bonds of their relationships and the like. Without people who can be friends, in other words, we can not speak of friendship."
Friendship is something that is quite beautiful. We all have friends, family members, and coworkers who we value. We do not even realize how truly pure it is to have those who we feel affection for. We attract like minded and sometimes opposite minded. Friendship is stronger than what we realize.

Re: Response to Letters: creative action
"To do business in a digital society (365), you have to resort to design thinking (443)." I feel as most do not realize our actions require more than just thought, it requires creativity. We have to think outside the box.

Re: Response to Letters: engagement & construction
I appreciate how you are willing to share your creative process with us.
"Creative solutions (we put aside textbooks), flexible plans (we frequently changed our symbols), and competent relationship skills (we watched each other before making decisions) are key ingredients for modern organizations." The fishbowl allows us to encompass these skills. We are become a society, by practicing these skills.

Re: Response to Letters: Social networks & new forms of sociality
It is true that we are making virtual communities. We work together, while affecting each other's posts. With that saying, we are at stake. We may fear that our reflections are wrong as others having opposing thoughts. However, we have to realize that is what makes it a community, we are suppose to have different thoughts.

Re: Response to Letters: looking at what we're looking at
I think as students, we are practically distracted. Sometimes, we will purposely look for distractions to avoid work. However, in this class, we also have a similar purpose. We are to design a society, where we are allowed to depict self-reflexivity and be different. Diversity is encouraged. We want to see what the other is seeing.

Re: Response to Letters: Intersubjective spaces
It is great to hear that we are on the right track.
If we are succeeding in creating the inter-subjective space, then we must continue. We should expand it outside of the fishbowl. It will allow us to develop value in our words in the real world.

Re: Response to Letters: facing each other
It is true, if we do not engage or collaborate within our fishbowl, we are not leaving digital footprints. This contributes to the idea of oblivion. Perhaps with just one student not contributing, could damage the idea of us becoming a full-formed society.

Re: Response to Letters: Just Live
1. Note the words that are evoked in you by the facial expressions (images).
• Confused- I am confused at what is happening. I don't seem to have any context as I am not familiar with this movie.
○ If I ever miss a day of class when a new lesson is introduced, it takes me a while to figure out what is going on. So often times, I will not comprehend it in the following class, just hope to leave class right away to learn it on my own.
• Annoyed - he asked if he was the poet, already knowing he was. I just got annoyed that he had to keep asking questions.
○ I personally hate question after question. I prefer to get to the point right away. I find myself like that in class, I want to get to the main idea right away, I do not want to have to hear side stories and commentary.
2. Note the images that are evoked in you by the text.
• The shelf in the background - In my past home, there was a shelf built into the wall. My mom decorated it with fake flowers, vases, small stuffed animals to add liveliness to my room. In the clip, they had it decorated with antique vases and drinks.
• The map hanging on the wall- In that former past home, my brother and I found a globe in one of the closets. My parents wanted to dispose of it, but for some reason my brother and I decided to keep it. I think he kept it just for his social studies class and also to entertain me by spinning it very quickly.

Re: Response to Letters: Recapping methodology of the fishbowl
It is great to know that we are putting all these techniques into practice through the fishbowl. We are creating our society, each individually and controlling what we want from it.
Participant Observation- research technique in anthropology & sociology characterized by effort of an investigator to gain entrance into & social acceptance by foreign culture
Social Construction of Reality- theory that the way we present ourselves to others shaped by interactions with others & life experiences
Symbolic Interactionism- view of social behavior emphasizing linguistic & gestural communication
Subjective understanding
Action Research- philosophy & methodology of research applied in social sciences
Seeks transformative change through simultaneous process of taking action & doing research
