Selection, substitution, satisfaction

Using new words definitely changes your life. Making different decisions based on new vocabulary I learn day by day. It creates maturity/growth in the individual. This happens to me when I learn new vocabulary. I feel like a more mature person when I use a new word in my casual conversations with others. Especially when my mom gives me advices, she tells me metaphors I never heard before. I end up using those metaphors that I remember to give advice to others. After reading this letter, I wonder to myself if Professor Dugal ever sleeps because I feels like he is always doing work.

Abstracts and authorship

Thank you so much for including me into one of the two abstracts. I really feel like these topics really resemble my life and I appreciate being apart of it! I feel very touched! These acknowledgements makes me realize all the work I put into this class is worth it. Thank you for giving me part authorship.

Looking at yourself again

I feel that everything that I put in my fishbowl expressed a past experience I went through in order to fully understand myself. I create new thoughts and actions in the fishbowl from the letters Sanjiv posts for us to read and analyze. Our felt-experiences concludes how we look at ourselves day to day. It is amazing how reflecting on yourself works.

"Relevance (443)"

I am glad you were able to finish the two abstracts and now you can move on. "When one door closes, another one opens." I'm excited for the opportunities that will be presented to Sanjiv. Enjoy the holidays!

"Relationships, not just parts (443)"

Our fishbowls is a symbiotic system because when I was introduced to the fishbowl in the beginning of the semester, I had no idea who all these students were on the page. Now as the semester is starting to wrap up, I am able to finally navigate who is who. Especially those who are in my group. I created a friendship that I never thought I would have. Although my classmates and I created relationships along the way, all good things must come to an end.

Reflecting on one's history

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving as much as I did. I can't wait to eat all of the food in front of me. The fishbowl has been my diary. I really haven't been looking at other people's post, but I guarantee they are similar as mine. Unless they did not do it at all. I see the cornbread calling my name. Time to eat!

Thoughts, the morning after thanksgiving

The morning after thanksgiving, I think about why I ate all the food in front of me. No one was near any type of technology during thanksgiving. But of course as everyone was leaving my house, every single person took out their phone to see what was going on in the social media world. As the morning after rolled around, I saw letters being sent to me ON thanksgiving! I enjoyed spending quality time with my family and not think about schoolwork or anything that stresses me out.

Voguing (345)

When I read the word voguing, the first place I thought about was Vogue.com website. I love read the Vogue articles that are provided for readers to read. Vogue relates to my life and allows me to understand the current trends. I looked up voguing on Youtube and I discovered that it means how I am flowing with what is presented to me / how I react to it. For example, a final portfolio for a class. I am presenting the work I have learn on a big bulletin board.

Mutation/Motion

This course is an overall mutation and motion to pass the course and learn more about ourselves. This is used by the "experiences, perceptions, values, and modes of behavior, a mutation of your being-in-the-world." Unfortunately our technology that we possess is taking over our experiences and perceptions in life than how people did in the past. A decade ago from today was totally different than today's world when it comes to people wanting to now play video games inside than going outside to play with the neighbors. I know I will have those experiences to cherish as I get older. However, I do not think the newer generation will have that opportunity and will lead to them having different perspectives in life. This needs to change now. Probably will not for several years, but people can start a motion to accomplish this!

Creating social memories and inter-subjective spaces (345)

As I am listening to these multiple videos, the more I am realizing that I am having similar experiences/ takeaways these past students had in their courses. I feel it is important to use your own experiences/memories in order to create more value in my fishbowl and make the class worth my time. I am just writing about myself throughout this whole semester and it has created social memories when expressing it with my other group members. As I am speaking about my experiences to others, the more memorable they are. It has created an inter-subjective space when it comes to the 10+1 Steps and my group member and I are coming to an agreement of what words to use in a statement. Fortunately, we have agreed on majority of the words/statements we used.

Coming close to the end-1 (345)

After coming close to the end of this course, I realize how much the media has a huge impact in our present day life. Without media, there would be no production, reproduction, storage, and distribution of texts, images, and sounds. It would just all be my memory or a million of papers pilling on our desks. I still remember a decade ago when my parent's office room in our house had PILES of paperwork with no room to store it. Especially with printed pictures when I was a baby. Today, my mom has all of her files on a USB drive and our office is emptier.
