Vocabulary + Class 1 Notes

Individuate (Gilbert Simondon) - the process by which an individual becomes distinct
Activity - something that a person or people do
Learning - information attained by observing and doing
Society - group of people with similar schools of thought working together
Sociality - the measure of form societies and operate in social groups
Unabated - continuing at full strength without weakening
Archive: storage place of documents or information


Reflexivity - the circular relationship between cause and effect
"I'm looking at you, looking at me, looking at you"
"you've created a reality where I had no choice"

value- the regard that something is held to deserve, worth
share- a part or portion of a larger amount which is divided among a number of people
process- a series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular end
practice- doing something over and over in hopes of getting better
reflection- the throwing back by a body or surface of light, heat, or sound without absorbing it
solitude- being alone
learning- the acquisition of knowledge or skills through experience, study, or by being taught

reading- the action or skill of reading written or printed matter silently or aloud
interpret- to explain or make understandable
process- a series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular end
hub- the lively or central location of a city, campus, stat, etc
network- a group or system of interconnected people or things
become- a new way of being that is a function of influences rather than resemblances. The process is one of removing the element from its original functions and bringing about new ones
singularity- the state, fact, quality, or condition of being singular
difference- how things are not the same or similar
connect- to come together
destiny- the events that will necessarily happen to a particular person or thing in the future

Chaos- no order; complete disorder and confusion
Confusion- lack of understanding or uncertainty
Embrace - to hold closely in one’s arms, especially as a sign of affection
Resistance- the refusal to accept or comply with something; the attempt to prevent something by action or argument.

Platform- a raised level surface on which people or things can stand.
Momentous- of great importance or significance, especially in its bearing on the future
Formation- the action of forming or process of being formed.
Dramatic- relating to drama or the performance or study of drama.
Transform- make a thorough or dramatic change in the form, appearance, or character of.
Understanding- the ability to understand something; comprehension.
Mapping- an operation that associates each element of a given set (the domain) with one or more elements of a second set (the range).
Simulate- imitate the appearance or character of.

Intimacy- close familiarity or friendship; closeness.
Agency- a business or organization established to provide a particular service, typically one that involves organizing transactions between two other parties.
Emotion- a natural instinctive state of mind deriving from one's circumstances, mood, or relationships with others.
Creativity- the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work
Self- a person's essential being that distinguishes them from others, especially considered as the object of introspection or reflexive action.
Form- the visible shape or configuration of something.
Friendship- the emotions or conduct of friends; the state of being friends.

Social- relating to society or its organization
Ontology- the branch of metaphysics dealing with the nature of being.
Autonomy- the right or condition of self-government.
Entity- a thing with distinct and independent existence.
Assemblage- gather together in one place for a common purpose.
Flow- move along or out steadily and continuously in a current or stream.

Sift - put (a fine, loose, or powdery substance) through a sieve so as to remove lumps or large particles.
Sort - a category of things or people having some common feature; a type.
Select - carefully choose as being the best or most suitable.
Assemble - (of people) gather together in one place for a common purpose.
Associate - connect (someone or something) with something else in one's mind.
Emerge - move out of or away from something and come into view.
Enter - come or go into (a place).
Reveal - make (previously unknown or secret information) known to others.

Abstraction - something which exists only as an idea.
Aphorism - a pithy observation that contains a general truth, such as, “if it ain't broke, don't fix it.”.
Axiom - statement or proposition which is regarded as being established, accepted, or self-evidently true.

Ante-narrative: the process by which retrospective narrative is linked to living story
Pre-individual: is not 'one', but 'more than one' - it requires that the individual's being is continual "out of phase with itself

Dichotomy - a division or contrast between two things that are or are represented as being opposed or entirely different.
Symbol - a mark or character used as a conventional representation of an object, function, or process, e.g. the letter or letters standing for a chemical element or a character in musical notation.
Juxtaposition - the fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect.
Compare - estimate, measure, or note the similarity or dissimilarity between.
Contrast - the state of being strikingly different from something else in juxtaposition or close association.
Courage - the ability to do something that frightens one.
