Re: Response to Letters: doing conversation
While away at college, I stopped speaking my first language on a daily basis. So, when I would visit my parents, sometimes I would forget to say certain words and phrases in Spanish. It is weird to think that I could ever forget any word from my first language, but it did happen. I was constantly speaking English, and choosing my words selectively to make sure I was getting my voice across. However, now that I commute, I get to speak Spanish on a daily basis once again. Speaking the two languages on a constant basis helps me manage my conversations.

Re: Response to Letters: science of networks
Duncan J. Watts
Sociologist
Professor at Upenn
Known for Watts & Strogatz model
We are adding to the science of networks on a daily basis without acknowledging it. We do it in the fishbowl, class, work, with friends, and family. It is amazing that technology helps us connect even more. However, we differ on how to connect with those selected. One day, society will revolve many of its experiences around our daily lives.

Re: Response to Letters: Reader response theory
The notion of the reader-response is quite influential on the author and also society. It shows that there are people paying attention to others' works. It helps build on our stories, our connections, and perspectives. Without the acceptance of reader-response, authors would not know if their works are admired or if there are any ways to improve and why.

Re: Response to Letters: Your Fishbowl is your Youtube channel
Our fishbowl is definitely like a YouTube channel. It is our very own blog. Although I appreciate you sharing his channel, I do not think it is the right channel for myself. However, that is what makes YouTube and other networks so great, we can find what is for ourselves.

Building a shared vision

Personal mastery
Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome
“Let your boat of life be light, packed with only what you need - a homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends, worth the name, someone to love and someone to love you, a cat, a dog, and a pipe or two, enough to eat and enough to wear, and a little more than enough to drink; for thirst is a dangerous thing. ”
J.M. Coetzee
2003 Nobel Prize in Literature recipient
"The secret of happiness is not doing what we like but in liking what we do."
I understand now why we only handed in the first two copies. It was so we could see if we were heading in the right path.
I see what is being told, we want to exchange value with one another, and for that reason we drive ourselves to complete all tasks.

Re: Response to Letters: simulating complex adaptive systems
John L Casti
"A good analogy is stretching a rubber band. You can stretch and stretch and even feel the tension increase in the muscles in your hands and arms as the gap from one end of the band to the other widens. But at some point you reach the limits of elasticity of the band and it snaps. The same thing happens with human systems."
We are not only learning from you, but also from one another. It will show especially in Complex Adaptive Systems. This a pattern that shall reoccur as long as we are willing to accept and also teach one another.

Re: Response to Letters: Morning thoughts: developing a Voice
It does not matter what we look like, it is our voice that matters. We use it to share our opinions, thoughts, and reflections. We are able to be free. We are not judging others, rather forming thoughts on other's ideas.
Our assignment on Integrated Network Structures is a perfect example of this. We shared our thoughts and yet we discovered where our voices were similar and differed.

Re: Response to Letters: Looking forward to reading
It gives me relief knowing you actually want to read our work. It motivates me to actually put in effort and such.
I think it is important for us to learn from experience and by doing it hands-on for real. It develops important skills that we shall use in our future careers. This class is very different in that way. There are no connect homework that can be easily googled. Rather with this class, we are forced to produce our own work.

Re: Response to Letters: Simultaneous reading and writing
As you create meaning of our works, we also create meaning of your emails. I myself notice a pattern recurring. Our papers and reflections are our own way to divert negative energy. We manifest it into making sense and deciphering it all.

Re: Response to Letters: Reflecting mid-way
I never thought of passing my work to others. Maybe, it will be a great idea to show others how I think. Symbols are being used to depict our knowledge and how we develop. We are choosing certain symbols to make sure we are communicating well and showing our true value.

Re: Response to Letters: Reflecting a new society
Upon working on Complex Adaptive Systems, my group and I shall be closer to developing a virtual reality. We shall see the world in a different light. We can develop a new way of adapting our thoughts, and that sharing them empower us.

Re: Response to Letters: Forming theory with anecdotal evidence
ANECDOTAL THEORY-
(Please google along with Jane Gallop)
Cuts through oppositions to produce theory with a sense of humor, theorizing which honors the uncanny detail of lived experience
Gallop argues all theory is bound up with stories & urges theorists to pay attention to the trivial narratives that theory represses
I think what the main point is, is that we need to develop our own theory that is true to ourselves. We have to tell a story while also formalizing it.
