Response to Letters
Re: Response to Letters
We are constantly performing Action Research in the Fishbowl. I regularly look back at my posts and I am able to reflect on my thinking process at that point in time. I've noticed that the way I read these letters has changed over time - it's easier now to stop reading everything as the first perception that comes to mind and to try to see other perspectives.

Re: Response to Letters
There have been times in conversation where I've needed to be careful in my word selection in order to properly convey my thoughts and experiences. This happens a lot at home, as I need to be aware of what words I'm using around my mom, whose first language is not English.

Re: Response to Letters
We are more connected today than ever before, largely due to technology. The ability to connect with others online, through texts, symbols, and images, was unheard of in the past. My group chat with my friends is another fragment of the story of the science of networks. Within it, you can find years of conversation, personal stories, and memories between our social network. There are patterns in when we message each other, but like any other observation, there are outliers too. We're real people with different perspectives, habits, and patterns, and to study our interactions would be one of millions of other connections in the world.
Science - the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.
Network - interact with others to exchange information and develop professional or social contacts.

Re: Response to Letters
A reader's response to the author's work is extremely important. Different interpretations cans be given to an author's work and thus multiple meanings of the work now exist in different minds. Especially with open-ended pieces of work, there is extra room for the reader/viewer/consumer to take part and add their own perspective to the piece. This truly lets a reader connect with the work rather than glossing over it, only to be forgotten shortly after.

We are learning from each other. I hope that in us, the students, becoming the Teller and professor Dugal becoming the Told, that he is also able to adapt his thinking and learn from us. We will be able to continuously learn and come to new conclusions if we do this.

"We learn from experience and by doing it hands-on for real."
Your ability to understand it will never be as deep as someone who actively interacts with the work itself. It will be easier to forget, and true learning was not achieved. Learning by doing is the best method in the end.

My work is representing myself. It reveals my thoughts, my conflicts, my solutions, and value. Our fishbowls are our self-portraits. I hope my self-portrait becomes much more detailed, and it shall as long as I continue to reflect and adapt.

Re: Response to Letters
I often looked at my classmates' posts to see if I was on the right track. However, the way you depict it, 45 societies are forming. We each build upon it, especially with the aid of the 10+1. Although 45 societies are growing, it does not mean we are diverting from the main society. Rather we are forming a collaborative society. A small step at a time before we join these 45 societies into 1 large one.

Work has influenced people working in education, community development, community health, & etc
"Leaders who do not act dialogically, but insist on imposing their decisions, do not organize the people--they manipulate them."
"What Synthesis demands from you is the active unification of parts (10+1) in contrast to an unconscious or mechanical repetition. "
Not only does our group unite within the 10+1, but we are also uniting with one another. This helps the society we are trying to build, become stronger.

The fishbowl is new. The 10+1 algorithm is complex as stated. During my first draft, I had no idea what I was going into. I hope I am showing sign of mastering the fishbowl. However, I know I need to better adapt to the 10+1 algorithm.
