We began class with Professor Dugal handing out an annual review which was essentially a teacher statement and what is to come this fall semester. During roll call, I had the pleasure of reviewing this statement and found it really enriching how dedicated and passionate professor Dugal is about teaching. "Using digital media, students learn to become empowered participants rather than passive receivers; and grounded, well-rounded people rather than multitasking basket cases.”
As a class, we were encouraged to "be in touch with our creative instincts." It is important to draw an image and conclusion from what we are talking about in class and connect that information with our environment.
Everything we work on must have an-
Impact- have a strong effect on someone or something
Innovation- a new method, idea, product
Engagement- occupy, attract or involve
"We are each other's filters."
This class is structured as a philosophy, critical thinking and logistics class, focusing on learning and thinking in the abstract. Our brains are used to being extremely structured in our other classes and doing what we are told. Here we are encouraged to surpass the structure to encourage non-linear, abstract thinking. From here, we are told to find relationships with concepts, symbols and images.
It is your selection process someone is looking at forming an abstract structure. With the abstract structure, we enter the environment.
