Digital Communication is Real Communication
In this paper, we will be looking ‘You Live Your Life Online. Don’t Forget Your Manners’ and how we have learned to bridge connections with this article and our writing exercises throughout this semester. The product of this article is based around the interactions of individuals online and with the real world. Digital communication has shown to cause confusion and misinterpretation across human-to-human interactions and this is something that we need to be aware of. There is an etiquette to digital communication that far too many are not taught about which is an essential modern life skill. Knowing your audience, the context of the language, while remaining human, are all things that we have exercised in our Fishbowl discussions in relation to digital communication.
To understand the task at hand you must gain as much experience and knowledge as possible. It’s important to have a full understanding of how to conduct yourself within the digital world in order to express proper communication and social skills within a given situation. In this digital age the context of an instance is especially crucial when trying to express our manners through the use of technology. Overtime we gain a better understanding of how to have the right etiquette as we spend more time communicating through text message and email.
Intellect is important when practicing things that are unknown. Even where the technology stays the same, social and cultural norms can rapidly shift. Language, too, quickly changes and is something that needs to be considered. Etiquette in the digital world can shift quickly as technology continues to grow so we must grow with it.
We should admire moments when we achieve things out of our reach. In situations, we might not know the right manner to act so it’s important to be able to adapt quickly and accordingly with the people you communicate with. Take the humble period, and let yourself be submerged in the growth of learning things that we could not grasp before.
It’s necessary to consider both sides when making sense of a situation. Communication in the digital world can be very hard to interpret. One interpretation of a digital message can vary person to person. It’s important to take the necessary time to consider both perceptions in order to properly get the correct meaning of a message across.
Your wisdom is comprised of your perspective and will only change as you grow. The younger generations have a different experience when it comes to the digital era. There is a better sense of knowledge of how to conduct yourself in a setting that heavily relies on digital communication. The growing disconnect between generations continues to grow when it comes to online communication, as the communication skills that older generations learned are less valuable. Perspectives and experiences change as time goes on and the modes of communication changes.
Of all of the paragraphs we comprised are very important messages pertaining to the subject matter of our digital communication throughout the semester and what we’ve read through this article. The two that we believe are key to everyday growth are the paragraphs beginning with ‘Intellect is important when practicing things that are unknown’ and ‘Your wisdom is comprised of your perspective and will only change as you grow.’ Both of these explanations are explaining key instances to take into consideration to thrive within the digital world. In order to grow we must experience the unknown and gain new perspectives to broaden our horizons.
