LETTER REFLECTIONS

Post by Haley Nathanson » 25 Sep 2019, 13:01

Sharing what we see when we read

By sharing our thoughts in the fishbowl we are able to help each other learn and see things from different perspectives. Each group in our class acts as a different hub of ideas and thoughts that can help connect our class as a whole. We do not all share the same thoughts, each mind is different and we find value in different words and images.

Restructuring Again

Post by Haley Nathanson » 25 Sep 2019, 13:02

Pre-individual can affect our perception: an Individual if formed by the conjunction of matter and form the pre-individua--l in Simondon has a reality of it's own that does not simply vanish into the individual considered as the (unwarranted) telos of an individuating process.

Somewhat our first impressions, which lead to our perceptions of people, we form these early on in our processes.

New Forms of Intimacy and Friendship

Post by Haley Nathanson » 25 Sep 2019, 13:06

During our social meeting exercise we as a group will be testing one of Giddens forms of intimacy- friendship. Afterwards we should see some form of a transformation in regards to our relationship as a group. A new beginning level of friendship may form and help bring the group together. We may find it hard and challenging to dive into our mental thought process as the friendship forms.

Learning is an Act of Courage

Post by Haley Nathanson » 06 Oct 2019, 14:07

By working together in the Fishbowl, we can find new meanings and understand things differently through the help of our peers. We find different meanings in things we discuss in the fishbowl through the different language and words we use.

Courage: the ability to do something that frightens one.
One must have courage to speak out in the fishbowl and open their mind to their peers.

Creating and Constructing Knowledge Content

The act of deep mental involvement is not something you have already written and experienced, instead you are forming new ones.

In order to think you have to figure out what you want to spend time analyzing. It is almost impossible to remember everything, it is too much to think about

Friendship again

“We cannot share the world as it already is, with the exception of the natural world. The world that we can share is always and still to be elaborated by us and between us starting from the perception and affirmation of what and who we are as humans here and now.”
--- The world is in a constant state of change and it is counting on us to be the change. Our individual thoughts and experiences help shape the world.

Technologies of Lived Abstraction

Post by Haley Nathanson » 23 Oct 2019, 15:36

"Growth and development is a movement inside our heads, and it takes place through our words, and it is felt in our bodies."
--- technologies of lived abstraction : the thoughts and actions that are bodies go through help us grow and change. The way we view things and see things in the world are constantly changing by what exists and what we make up.

"The fishbowl as a play pen"
- an area where we can co-mingle and interact. It should be a fun space where you can be free and learn things from each other

Doing Conversation

Post by Haley Nathanson » 30 Oct 2019, 15:36

This class is not about the student / instructor relationship, but it is more about working with your peers and those in your group. instead of worrying about our grades we should focus on opening our minds and truly learning. There are certain learning objectives that can only be obtained if you do the class right.

Please excuse absence

"we have a tendency to reify mental things. Reify. Good word. Look it up and return to it."
-- after looking up this word i the dictionary i can come to the understanding that it means to make something more real, concrete. It provides a bridge between what is abstract and what is real.

"We’re making our text and images and felt-experiences material by abstracting from them and, we're submitting our process of textual expression to a conference for review. For affirmation. For time well spent. For a return on our investment. For a digital footprint."
-- The writing we are working on and the 10 steps we take forms our work into more than just words. We are creating an experience; the experience our mind goes through when we think and develop. By turning our work into the conference we are getting another ones approval of our hard work and it proves we have spent our time well.

Reflecting mid way

Post by Haley Nathanson » 05 Nov 2019, 11:52

" You are not showing how you did it, nor what you did, you are sharing How you Think. Thereby you empower your text."
--- what we put into the fishbowl is an interpretation of what is going on in our minds. We are able to empower the words we write by showing how we got them, the thought process and how our brain is wired.
