Forming theory with anecdotal evidence
Google anecdotal theory
Google Jane Gallop
“Deconstruction, between you and me, is opening the dictionary and going on a journey whose trajectory and narrative is determined by you alone”
I’ve realized that I have total control over the deconstruction of letters as I pick out sentences that resonate with me the most to then discuss my thoughts on and what they remind me of. I’ve also noted it through the vocabulary. When looking at the dictionary, I decide which definition suits my letter best. My deconstruction is made through my decisions and thoughts, rather than influenced by others.

Further reflections on your performance
“The composition of your fishbowl is well suited to the concept of the self-portrait.”
Our Fishbowl postings create a self portrait through the images provided within our use of texts. I can give my group members and other viewers an idea on how my mind works, as well as who I am through my use of words. From this, I form bonds and relationships with others as we relate to who we are through text.
COMPOSITION: a work of music, literature, or art
SELF: a person’s essential being that distinguishes them from others, especially considered as the object of introspection or reflexive action
REPRESENTATION: the action of speaking or acting on behalf of someone or the state of being so represented
PORTRAIT: a representation or impression of someone or something in language or on film
DEPICT: show or represent by a drawing, painting, or other art form
PENUMBRA: the partially shaded outer region of the shadow cast by an opaque object
HALO: the glory associated with an idealized person or thing
SHADOW: a dark area or shape produced by a body coming between rays of light and a surface
SILHOUETTE: the dark shape and outline of someone or something visible against a lighter background, especially in dim light

Widening your range of caring
“By taking charge through carefully thought-out acts, you widened your range of caring.”
Our postings show our care for the subject at hand. Taking the time to reflect on the letters and think about the text shows that we are building on our range of caring. It represents the importance of conversation and communication.
CONVERSATION: a talk, especially an informal one, between two or more people, in which news and ideas are exchanged.
POSITION: a particular way in which someone or something is placed or arranged
WIDEN: make or become wider
RANGE: the scope of a person’s knowledge or abilities
CARE: an object of concern or attention

Storm as metaphor for your creative process
“Like a storm, your creative process is continuously in motion. Both are shaped by their conditions, just as their conditions shape them.”
I am constantly thinking of new ways to get my ideas across. Depending on the audience, the situation, or how I am feeling, my creative process will adapt. There is never a point where we are not thinking creatively, even simple communication and actions require it of us.
CREATIVE: relating to or involving the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work
PROCESS: a series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular end
TRANSFORMATION: a thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance

Reorienting ones vision: the return
“It is a visual event whenever we return to look. Why must we return? What if we don’t? What are we gaining-losing by returning and taking a look again?”
We should always look back and reflect upon what we’ve accomplished or done. Within the Fishbowl, this is integral to developing and understanding our creative process. The more we do this, the better our text will become, allowing us to create a story of our lives and be a leader to others. In our everyday life, we must look back and reflect upon our mistakes and what could’ve been done better to see success in the future.
LOOK: think or regard in a specified way
VISION: the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom
SIGHT: the faculty or power of seeing
RETURN: come or go back to a place or person
SITE: a place where a particular event or activity is occurring or has occurred
REORIENT: change the focus or direction of
EVENT: a thing that happens, especially one of importance
PHENOMENAL: very remarkable; extraordinary
FORM: the visible shape or configuration of something
DOMAIN: a specified sphere of activity or knowledge

Recounting anecdotes and honoring lived experiences
“Your fishbowls cut through these oppositions and produces theory which honors the details of your lived experience.”
Our thoughts will always oppose the thoughts of someone else, whether we know that or not. Through our use of felt experiences to explain our thoughts, we provide a reason that the opposition is wrong. We allow others to see in a way that is new and true.
ANECDOTE: a short amusing or interesting story about a real incident or person
THEORIZING: the forming of a theory or theories about something
RECOUNT: tell someone about something; give an account of an event or experience
HONOR: high respect; great esteem
EXPERIENCE: practical contact with and observation of facts or events

Cybernetics and your Fishbowl
Google Vilem Flusser
“Each makes the other’s existence possible, and each defines the other. That is to say, in your fishbowls, it is not only what you are doing, it is what is happening and, what is becoming you and your fishbowl.”
What we write is determined by what is happening in our lives. From there, our fishbowl is molded to look a certain way. We can see when we’ve had a lot of time to reflect upon our work to write our results, and when we are having quick thoughts. Time is the major player that changes the game.
COMPLEX: consisting of many different and connected parts
CYBERNETICS: the science of communications and automatic control systems in both machines and living things
CODIFY: arrange according to a plan or system
PHENOMENOLOGY: the science of phenomena as distinct from that of the nature of being

Please fact check your virtual products in you fishbowl
Google investigative journalism
Google instrumentality
“Our product is virtual, and it is perceived in a visual culture. The product is self-generated and sustainable.”
Our texts are seen on social networking. It creates a virtual entity that others can relate and add to. We provide a way for our thoughts to be shared. Our texts depict us and our minds, making it original. The sustainable aspect of it is that the text is backed up by our lived experience and our syntax.
ABSTRACT: existing in thought or as an idea but not having a physical or concrete existence
EVOLUTION: the gradual development of something, especially from a simple to a more complex form
EMERGENCE: the process of coming into view or becoming exposed after being concealed
APPEARANCE: the way that someone or something looks

Selection, substitution, satisfaction (443)
“Our selection of words is often the problem, and it is words alone that will solve it; whether you do it yourself or pay someone else.”
I find that often, I use the wrong words to explain my thoughts when speaking out loud. The only way to solve this problem is to come back with the correct words to explain myself. Through text, this situation is much easier to get through. When writing, we have more time to think upon and reflect on our thoughts. From there, we can come up with words that will solve our problem.
SUBSTITUTION: the action of replacing someone or something with another person or thing
ANEW: once more; again
SATISFACTION: fulfillment of one’s wishes, expectations, or needs, or the pleasure derived from this
PERFORMANCE: the action or process of carrying out or accomplishing an action, task, or function
AUDIENCE: the people giving or likely to give attention to something

Looking at ourselves again
“Your aim is to catch new thought and action, forming at a creative crossing.”
Reading others postings brings new thoughts to mind. From there, I can change the way I think or see certain viewpoints. A creative crossing shows development and growth, without it how can we learn from one another or learn from the past?
LABYRINTH: a complicated irregular network of passages or paths in which it is difficult to find one’s way; a maze

Relevance (443)
“Riding the waves, focused on the horizon, that forever moves away.”
The horizon is constantly moving away because we never actually reach an endpoint. Instead, we are in constant development. This leads to our goals to be achieved, but then raising them even higher than before. We are in constant motion, achieving one goal and moving on to the next, without ever stopping.
RELEVANCE: the quality or state of being closely connected or appropriate

Relationships, not just parts
“Your fishbowls are part of a symbiotic system! Please be sure to understand this. It is about relationships not just parts.”
If we look at our text in parts, we are unable to create a story and understand the creative process. We have to look at it as a relationship, a symbiotic system, in order to fully understand the meaning and how we got from point A to point Z.
SYMBIOTIC: involving interaction between two different organisms living in close physical association
SYSTEM: a set of things working together as parts of a mechanism or an interconnecting network
PART: a specified fraction of a whole
CONNECT: bring together or into contact so that a real or notional link is established
RELATIONSHIP: the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are connected
