Social Meeting Exercise:
I emailed my group with days/times I was available. Nicole replied back and together we decided to meet at Providence Bagels. At first, I was apprehensive about the social meeting exercise because I wasn't sure if we would find the time to meet or if I'd get any replies. I was glad that Nicole responded so quickly and was excited to meet. She had the same worries as I did about setting up the meeting. I got out of class and got to Providence Bagels early, so I ordered a coffee and food and grabbed us seats. Nicole came a few minutes later and also ordered a coffee. Then, we immediately realized that we are in a lot of the same classes. We asked each other how classes were going, then what extracurricular activities we were apart of. Nicole is in the Business Fraternity and is their Apparel Chair, but was their Community Service Chair last year. I told her how I'm apart of a sorority and I'm the Community Service Chair this year. We talked about our work experience, where I told Nicole how I've worked in bridal for awhile and currently intern in Newport as a Wedding Planning Assistant. She told me how her brothers are engaged and currently planning out their weddings, so I gave her advice on the process, where to shop for gowns, and told her what some of the weddings I've done so far were like. She was very intrigued and supportive about what I'm doing and what I want to do after graduation. I found out Nicole worked in Boston, and that she also wants to own her own business. She is very motivated and active in the idea of entrepreneurship. She told me about wanting to own an ice cream shop with her mom, and how she doesn't want to be stuck in an office. Our conversation went on to talk about our graduation requirements since we are both seniors in the same major, the craziness of parking on campus, and other things that allowed us to learn more about each other. At 12:30, Nicole realized she was late to meet someone at the library, so I offered to drive her over. We kept our conversation going the whole way, as I told her about my car and our stories about driving. Nicole and I said our goodbyes and that we'd see each other in class tomorrow. We said we'd have to see each other again, and that maybe we'd see each other tomorrow night at Bonvue.
