Social Meeting Exercise:

I emailed my group with days/times I was available. Nicole replied back and together we decided to meet at Providence Bagels. At first, I was apprehensive about the social meeting exercise because I wasn't sure if we would find the time to meet or if I'd get any replies. I was glad that Nicole responded so quickly and was excited to meet. She had the same worries as I did about setting up the meeting. I got out of class and got to Providence Bagels early, so I ordered a coffee and food and grabbed us seats. Nicole came a few minutes later and also ordered a coffee. Then, we immediately realized that we are in a lot of the same classes. We asked each other how classes were going, then what extracurricular activities we were apart of. Nicole is in the Business Fraternity and is their Apparel Chair, but was their Community Service Chair last year. I told her how I'm apart of a sorority and I'm the Community Service Chair this year. We talked about our work experience, where I told Nicole how I've worked in bridal for awhile and currently intern in Newport as a Wedding Planning Assistant. She told me how her brothers are engaged and currently planning out their weddings, so I gave her advice on the process, where to shop for gowns, and told her what some of the weddings I've done so far were like. She was very intrigued and supportive about what I'm doing and what I want to do after graduation. I found out Nicole worked in Boston, and that she also wants to own her own business. She is very motivated and active in the idea of entrepreneurship. She told me about wanting to own an ice cream shop with her mom, and how she doesn't want to be stuck in an office. Our conversation went on to talk about our graduation requirements since we are both seniors in the same major, the craziness of parking on campus, and other things that allowed us to learn more about each other. At 12:30, Nicole realized she was late to meet someone at the library, so I offered to drive her over. We kept our conversation going the whole way, as I told her about my car and our stories about driving. Nicole and I said our goodbyes and that we'd see each other in class tomorrow. We said we'd have to see each other again, and that maybe we'd see each other tomorrow night at Bonvue.

9. Felt Experience - Nicole: I also has the experience to study abroad. While abroad, you truly get to experience the rich culture of another country and appreciate everything that surrounds you in that culture. It is very emotionally provoking because you experience and see things from a grand perspective and see things in a way you haven’t experienced before. By going to another country, you can adapt to their culture and improve your own knowledge by living the lives of others, if only for a brief second.

A watcher provides fair insight to the beliefs and cause of our mindset that puzzles others

4.Felt Experience
Living with other people, they see how my mind works and why I do the things I do. My roommate has learned why I do things the way I do and why I have certain beliefs. As I explain the mindset I have to others, they can become confused, while my roommate understands and is able to provide their own view on the matter.

3. Restructure:
To be alike or opposite is a feeling that can be tweaked overtime.

4. Felt Experience:
Depending on who I am surrounded by, I can feel either similar to or opposite to those around me. When this occurs, I try to learn about the people I am with to relate myself to those I am different from, and find differences within those who are like me. Overtime, I can relate to those around me while also feeling my own uniqueness

9. Felt Experience - Nicole: When we are shown diversity, we are shown growth. We allow ourselves to come together as individuals and connect together as a unified front. I have moved around ever since a was little and have experienced living in many different places. The places you live always reflect the culture that surrounds your location. It is such huge growth opportunity to reflect on the people around you and be thankful for the different cultures surrounding you. As we appreciate other cultures, we learn more and grow as individuals, together.

10. Perceptual Categories:
Nicole: Advancement

11. Final Paragraph

From all of our experiences, there is a common theme of growth. As we develop our mind throughout this class, we have learned to have a connection between the mindset of deep thinking. Our words are being used as more than just words. Our words hold meaning and if we use our words wisely, we are improving and support our own mental development. As we look onto others we learn that we all have prior experiences that shape us into who we are as humans. Our experiences shape us into how we act in certain situations. Language is a beautiful thing. We can share joy, hurt, excitement, fear, anger and so much more through our language and affect others not only positively, but negatively as well. As we go through life, we need to recognize that our words affect others.
