Ballet was Scott's life. That is the only thing he cared about. His entire life revolved around ballet. I can relate to this because when I was younger I was so dedicated to playing football that it was all basically did. If I was not practicing I was lifting weights to get stronger. I literally gave myself no time for enjoyment. I missed a lot of things that I would have loved to do. I missed a lot of summer days hanging out with my friends. I missed a couple vacations for football too. I did not really realize I missed so many things until I was no longer playing football. It is very interesting to step back and observe the decisions you made previously and how they affect your life currently.
The other example from Strictly Ballroom is how Scott refuses to dance the traditional ballet. He puts his own twist on things and wants to do it his way. Even though everyone, including his mother, is against it. Scott was going against the grain to follow his passion. When I was graduating high school I had a couple of offers to play college football. My family wanted me to continue to play football at the collegiate level so badly. Though I really did not want to. I felt as if I was letting my loved ones down, but I was not. I was taking command of my life and choosing what I wanted to do with my life.
