(Management / Leadership)
The managers at our jobs were not always effective leaders. We met in Ram’s Den, the antiquated dining section of URI’s Memorial Union. I felt optimistic about getting to connect with the people I sit next to every day but don’t know. We talked about our experiences with strong and poor leaders and how our managers in the past exemplified good and bad leadership traits. We learned that we’re all management majors and hope to be effective leaders in the future. We discussed future classes as well, and we’re all on the track to graduate next semester.
(Software / Landscaping)
Software developers working long hours tend to fall behind on their home’s landscaping. Our group discussed what we did over the summer. Brooke worked at her father’s software company as an intern. I worked at my internship for a military contractor in Connecticut. Zach was working at his landscaping company. We all had diverse experiences that we were able to connect.
(Statistics / Fun)
It’s hard to have fun in statistics class. We rekindled our experiences of all being in the same Business Statistics class a year ago. The class was tough and was a real eye opener for Zach, being his first semester at the university. We all passed the class and made it out alright, but it took some effort and uncertainty to get through.
Our meeting was very eventful and I appreciated this exercise. It was salubrious to finally put a face to names that I see all the time in my classes as well as the Fishbowl.
