Idealizations

Post by Katie Bergantine » 17 Dec 2019, 17:49

In idealizations (like the one’s you are constructing and creating), we proceed “as if” our representations were ideal, while knowing they are not

I would say this is similar to a "reality check", I would consider this to be similar to an idealization of a person. Sometimes we are friends with those who we hold to a higher reality than what they are; we hang around with them not for who they are but their potential. I call this seeing the best in someone. Others may call is an idealization.

Society of consumers

Post by Katie Bergantine » 17 Dec 2019, 17:51

Things have changed, after the internet

We are now not only consumers of material products, but we are consumers of everything that social media has to offer us. We are consumers of likes, of scrolls, of the attention that we get from posting and also consumers of the attention that we give to other peoples postings. We are constantly comparing ourselves to one another, and this form of consumerism has only risen out of the new digital age.

thinking process

Dichotomies are the foundation for building structural spaces where thoughts and feelings can flourish.

Dichotomies allow us to take words and make more out of them, analyzing them and getting more information out of them than we could have if we did not create those structures

knowledge construction in a knowledge economy

Post by Katie Bergantine » 17 Dec 2019, 17:56

We are knowledge workers, looking to being involved in the process of knowledge construction in a knowledge economy.

People are always seeking to learn more whether it is from each other, or their jobs. There is truly an abundance of knowledge underlying in our everyday aspects of life, and to seek it is to participate in the basics of what the world is about

Apperception

Sharing the world between us is a complex matter and warrants our attention.

In the fishbowl we are sharing our words and it is not something that we can do and not take care in

We’re turning our attention to the role of design in our lives

The role of design in our lives is huge and it is something that is not so easily realized. However, through the fishbowl, we are taught how relevant that design is by reading others works and sharing ours

Our conference paper on friendship is taking shape, like a painting, or a design; a creative action
