Making Space:

It is crazy to think that in this day and age, humans are determining their decisions and actions through the touch of their fingertips. However, is this making our lives easier or more complex? That will be determined by the end of this course. As my classmates and I make space for this class, we will come to a conclusion in how we have a ‘way of seeing’ and being in the world. This will be displayed in The Fishbowl website.

Re-structuring Text:

The re-structuring and sharing process is important, especially in the business world. In the business world, businessmen and women express their opinions/ideas to their co-workers in order to improve their company. Whether it is an idea to improve their revenue or numbers to put in the new fiscal year budget. Humans reflect these ideas in order learn and continue to grow as a person.

Sharing What We See When We Read:

Coming into my first blended course, some thoughts that came to mind was “How do I approach this course? How will people know who I am through my writing?”. Using the word theatre, is a perfect way to describe how to overcome these thoughts. With my writing, I am expressing who I am through examples/stories I have experienced in my lifetime. This will create an image of what people see when they read my writing.

Relevancy is a key word when it comes to what we see when we read. Relevancy helps discover how people see the world differently than you. One person can read the word “aisle” and picture an aisle at a super-market. Meanwhile, another person can read the word “aisle” and picture an event at a church. When discovering differences, we create connections in different levels that lead to people building a society for our future.

Simulating a Society

The amount of technology I used/relied on ten years ago compared to today is unbearable. I used to write down pages of notes in my floral notebook. Now I am typing my notes from my computer while receiving text messages from my mother, all in one screen. It is because our society is always changing, especially when it comes to the use of technology.

Every day we are being grasping new ways to learn and communicate with others and Fishbowl is now one of them. I have never worked with Fishbowl before, so it was something to get use to after clicking a lot of different buttons. However, I am open to learning new methods of technology in order to be up to date with society. I am excited to teach my parents how this website works, since they were not able to get this experience when they went to school.

"Reading Other’s Postings"

One of the many ways I learn in life are by reading another people’s writing. Although it teaches me about that person, it also helps myself grasp information I have never knew or seen before. Although everyone’s multiple posts are overwhelming, it is a good reading experience to immerse. I just sit down, focus, and start reading.

"Theory of Assemblages"

I completely agree with the purpose of a social meeting exercise. Especially when you are apart of a class that mainly focuses on group projects/assignments. By having conversation about life outside of school, we are creating our assemblages. For the people who are shy, it takes time to open up. But when the opportunity presents itself to break out of that shell, they will feel more comfortable to open up to our social entity. I have an outgoing personality, so I hope that will help those who are shy.

"Reassembling the Social"

It’s a hit or miss when it comes to poem for me. When I read one phrase I do not understand, I shut down and stop reading the rest. That is what happened to me when it came to this poem. I had to leave my computer to grab a snack in order to reset myself. After reading it a couple of times, I found it very interesting the words Tagore used in order to have the readers picture what he wrote. Poems are deeper than any other type of reading.

Meeting Once Again

- It was very different abstracting what happened when I met with my other group member because I never do that every time I hang out with my friends. I felt after abstracting my time with Matt, the social meeting became more memorable. Now I understand why some people write daily/monthly journals. It keeps the memories stick longer. These social meetings make you realize that everyone is not the same. We all have different/unique qualities that can be discovered outside of school.

Soft Power

- The ability to share information is crucial for the business world and every day life. Without expressing information, there would be no progress. Without any information given, there would be no CEO, CFO, or any executive position of a business. Or even a business in general! It is important to have this power in order to succeed in life. I feel this course is preparing us to not be afraid to display information we possess as an individual. This will help others see what you see.

Learning is an Act of Courage

- Learning information about a group member that I have not spoken to before does create a group foundation. Comparing and contrasting interests and experiences does make the other group member less discouraged to talk to a classmate. Especially when we have something in common, we are creating a structure for our group.

Constructing and creating knowledge from a knowing experience

- Expressing personal experiences does form a sense of knowledge about a person and how they perceive life. More importantly, the things that they remember. However, I always wonder what things the person forgets to tell you. Would it freak me out? Would it change my perspective on them? These are the questions I think about when a conversation is floating well. I guess you learn them as time goes on.

Sharing the World: Reading your social meeting reflections

- We are all elaborating the world day by day. We are doing this by developing ideas or thoughts we never thought of before. By hearing other’s experiences, we are affirming the information we already knew. If not, we are creating an interpretation of new information. After, we are sharing in the fishbowl for others to see.
