Just live!

Note the words that are evoked in you by the facial expressions (images).

Serious
Anger
Neutral

Note the images that are evoked in you by the text.

Serious : A business meeting
Anger : A tiger growling.
Neutral : Listening to a person as they are speaking.

After that, please take a look at your notings, and match them with personal, lived and experienced examples:

Serious : During this past summer at my internship, I was able to get the opportunity to sit in a real business meeting. As I was sitting there, I noticed how serious everyone looked as they were talking about future plans for the company.
Anger : I went to the movie theater with my friends to see Roar. There were parts in the movie of a tiger growling at the humans because they were trying to kill it.
Neutral : As I was speaking to my friend about plans for Friday night, I knew she was listening because she had a neutral facial expression.

Action Learning

"... developing an identity and a voice."

This phrase brings me back to middle school when I decided to run for Vice President. I knew in order to develop my identity throughout the school, I had to make myself heard. I would hand out flyers for all the student. Stick flyers that said "Vote Jessica Watson for Vice President" all over the lockers and bulletin boards. I still have some the flyers today in my house. I made a speech of ideas or plans I have in store if I become the next Vice President that everyone enjoyed to read. However, I was still nervous because there were so many other candidates running for the same position. Before we know it, elections came around and it was time to vote. At the end of the day, they made an announcement of who won. Of course VP was the last one announced. But it's ok because I ended up winning the position of VP! I was so happy and the crowd was roaring for me.
