Deconstructing letters 37 – Reflecting mid-way
This letter’s mention of all the various people really connected with me. The mention of bureaucrat resonates with me as this often-overlooked profession is one in which I aspire to join. The mention of all these different people allows me to see just how wide reaching and applicable the tools, we are learning in this class, really are. The tools that I learn in this class should be particularly effective as a bureaucrat as the majority of the work in creating documents and if I can add power to them, they will allow me to achieve greater success.

Deconstructing letters 38 – Reflecting a new society
I think that it is fascinating how useful the 10 + 1 step process that we are utilizing is. As you letter stated we are experiencing, participant-observation, social constructivism, reflexivity symbolic interaction, and auto-ethnography. All of these concepts are very appropriate in dealing with the new digital world that has sprung up over the course of my short lifetime.

Deconstructing letters 39 – Further reflection on your performance
I find the last sentence of this letter very interesting. This sentence’s discussion of how when we chose our words the self dissolves and gives way to self- representation is very interesting. I found myself reflecting on the way that I chose my words at my internship over the summer. Most people in my family will tell you I am not a person with a naturally sunny disposition; however, at my internship I gained a reputation of always being cheery. This was the result of my self-representation and the words I chose. A good example of this was when dealing with an extremely hard problems that made me want to bash my head against the keyboard. My supervisor would often apologize for these issues and in response I would often give a happy response like, “That’s ok, it was a great learning experience!”. It is in these choices that myself gave way to my self-representation.

Deconstructing letters 40 – Reorienting one’s vision: The return
I agree that you should always return to the site. In agile software development we always have a retrospective at the end of each two-week sprint. Even though a lot of people skip the retrospective I believe that it is useful to go back to where you started and analyze the performance. I am such a strong supporter of this that in BUS 445 I have a personal retrospective at the end of each round.

Deconstructing letters 41 – Recounting anecdotes and honoring living experiences
I find the honoring of your living experiences to be very interesting, especially in the English language. In my group’s interactive assignments, we have in the past read the same sentence and derived completely different meaning from it to honor our own felt experience. I have also changed the order of words in our structures to change the meaning to better honor my felt experience. English provides a unique opportunity for this as languages like Latin have a strict meaning that will not change if you only move around the words.

Deconstructing letters 42 – Construct social memories (345)
Deconstructing letters 42 – Construct social memories (345)
This letter made me reflect upon the felt experiences that I unified in the 10 + 1 process. The felt experiences that I connected truly were fragments of my past as I was only able to pick out some minor details relevant to the story. Without a structure to connect the fragments, I am unable to pull such long ago memories. The 10 + 1 process retrieves forgotten memories and reconstructs them with new meaning because if I ever recall a certain elementary school memory I will also remember the social memory that I helped to construct with it in this class.

Deconstructing letters 43 – Cybernetics and your fishbowls.
The fishbowl can definitely be described cybernetically as it is a technological augmentation of myself. The fishbowl and the 10 + 1 algorithm have augmented me by helping me formulate new ideas and concepts. These ideas and memories are a part of me and they exist in the fishbowl. Additionally, the fishbowl structure is definitely being changed from all directions. I am changing the structure; my partner is changing it and the professor is changing it.

Deconstructing letters 45 – Complex adaptive systems: the art of improvisation
Deconstructing letters 45 – Complex adaptive systems: the art of improvisation
I am a very strong proponent of self-reflexiveness. Looking a oneself and the work previously done is one of the most important steps towards growing. Sure, other people can add their input, criticisms, and check your work but they add to nothing unless you look into yourself and evaluate the you and your performance. In my view you will be unable to grow unless you fact-check.
