Research Methodologies

- Self-reflection: We discover ourselves through self-reflection.
- Participative observation: To fully understand a group, we must become part of the group.
- Symbolic interaction: We communicate through the exchange of language and symbols.
- Auto-ethnography: When we connect personal experiences and anecdotes to concepts we gain a richer understanding of the concept.
- Dichotomous thinking: Thinking in binary, or extreme ‘black-or-white’ categories, helps us understand concepts through consideration of what they are not.
- Structures and structuring: The network of institutions through which we interact provides structure to our society.
- Interpretation: When we interpret information of any kind we create our own meaning.
- Sharing thoughts and mental processes: When presenting conclusions it is often helpful to share your thoughts and mental process to support your conclusions.

“The excitement of improvisation lies not only in the risk of being involved but in the new ideas, as heady as the adrenaline of performance, that seems to come from nowhere.”

'Liquid Modernity' by Zygmunt Bauman

Post by mosmanski » 07 Nov 2019, 20:09

“To ‘be modern’ means to modernize – compulsively, obsessively; not so much just ‘to be’, let alone to keep its identity intact, but forever ‘becoming’, avoiding completion, staying underdefined.”
