Class notes 9/17
Maximizing return. “
like a gymnasium” you don’t want to enter the fishbowl just to see yourself and others.”
When you enter the fishbowl you are entering the gym,
You are seeing how your mind looks
you are working with yourself
Three things operating here: your eyes, your self (your mind) and the words you are typing
Not a you vs me thing, we are learning to form a society
When you are in the fishbowl you are learning all different kinds of things that will help you when you interview and how to succeed and be part of a society
We are learning to connect with each other
Connectivity is big
Learning how to connect
Learning to connect with each other in this class and the other class
I am making a commitment to read every text of my group member
The only way a connection can happen
Connection with other people will happen in my head
It happens through the exchange of symbols
Values are also words we will be getting into
We lead symbolic lives
There is nothing outside of words
If you have limited vocabulary, your lives will be limited
You are writing your words to add value to the group
Carefully selecting words
Purpose is to change the way we think
If he succeeded in changing the way we think, then he changed the way we live our lives
Restructuring creates value
You are creating knowledge
Every time you are creating subdivisions and divisions, you are creating knowledge
Knowledge is something you are creating for yourself and for your own reality
You are sustaining each others lives and taking care of each others
By selecting words and adding value to the groups interaction
The interaction is always in the head
Distraction means I am not slowing down, I am not focusing, and i am not selecting my words, nor substituting them to create value
There is a lot of stuff outside of our imagination
Our society has changed, but it has become digitalized
Our differences lie in our mental structures
We want to get at that
These differences in our mental structures are determined by difference in the selection of words
We are trying to connect across these differences
Key question is how you are connecting with others; “How so”
Aghast:
We are creating a network among ourselves
Social meeting exercise
1. Pre individual
Writing out notes before meeting
Ethnographic notes:
Open ended; social; over a drink
Not talking about the class; talking about ourselves
2. Writing out what happened during meeting after meeting
The more detailed the better off you will be
3. Looking at notes and circling 6 words or symbols
Pairing them up into
5. Pairing them up into 3 pairs
Putting the 6 words into 3 words and putting a slash between 3 words
Two words are not related to each other
Opposites; but doesn’t have to be direct opposites
Putting two together
6. Taking it further and looking into the dictionary
Looking at the collection of words and creating a simple sentence from the words you got
Three sentences in total
Under each sentence you will write a short paragraph that is describing the social meeting
Your sentence is an abstraction
Has nothing to do with the social meeting
6 words, 3 a, 3 paragraphs
Creating history has possibility
Paulo
Nuance
You are going after more and more words and change those words
You want to experience connectivity for yourself on the fishbowl
You are looking for difference, instead of copying others

Re: Class Notes
10/1 class notes
We are entering the unknown, we cannot comprehend it because it is huge and always changing.
You are determining your own structures
You are learning to construct meaning for yourself
You are deconstructing the letters
Taking each word and looking up in the dictionary and then looking at options to substitute that word.
You further reframe the sentence
The bigger the dictionary, the better off you are.
We all think individually and are different from each other
The difference is in these words that we select
Why do we want to identify our differences?
Innovative
Can only innovate if you are open to different ideas and words.
Different substituted words
When you select a particular word, you are expressing a certain idea.
Creative
The head is the mind and the typing is the material
Social meeting exercise allowed us to break the ice
Intersubjective spaces
Your selected words, symbols, ideas are making an impact to the group
“Eyes looking at eyes”
We are learning non linear thinking
It is not about being confused, it is about thinking in ways in which our mind is confused.
We are craftsmen of words.
Critical thinking means different perspectives.
We are working to be a phenomenologist
You are always sharing how you see it
An exchange of information and an ownership of your text.
You want your words to change the reality
You are learning through association
A dictionary is how you enter the world.
You are creating an abstraction independently.

Catch up to move on
We are learning to learn
Shift your attention in this course
The things you are attending to are very different
We are understanding society between the three of us
Learning to create a better society
Sharing our kown through self reflecting to create something of value
Putting ourselves in the center of the world we are creating
We are looking at diversity differently; looking at the diversity of our different selections of words and symbols
We all footnotes but are now at the center of the page
What you select affects the group
We are in the group to add value to the group in a way that adds value to ourselves
Learning to empower our text
Creating value through words
We are enhancing each other
The journey is in words
We are learning to write a textbook
Learning to self organize ourselves
The work is never finished
aghast

class notes 11/5
How so is the question
The further you take these words, the simpler they become
Learning to deep think and deep learning
Reflexive leadership
Abstract expressionism
We have
1.captured and configured
2performative writing or active learning
We performed it when we acted on it
3. Entered with a structure and then started creating something
4 freedom and individuality
Developed individual styles
Our papers aren’t intellectual,
Developing a form or structure of writing
You can take any form you want
Representing your singularity
The movement of ideas in your paper is all happening through your subconscious
Your paper is a signature of your mind
You are changing the way you think
There are layers of depth in your papers
Chaos but they are the outcome of a deliberate process
The process is the product
Your ideas are all over the place and are compositions; without a clear focus point
Nobody can reproduce your paper
Writing directly from you unconscious and revealing hidden truths
Sharing your technique and inviting the viewer to do the same
Jackson Pollock

Deep thinking when you answer how so
Peter sangre
Effectiveness depends on how well the team is getting along
Being stressed out means you are not getting along with each other
Engagement and expression for building meaningful knowledge content
Engaging with the outside world
