Letter: Reflecting a New Society
What is your way of seeing the world? That question is really integral to our experiences in the Fishbowl. It’s because that is exactly what you are sharing with the people in your group. You are each sharing your perspective of the world. Once you do that, it’s read by the others, and then your perspective has a small bit of influence over theirs. Even if it doesn’t change their mind, it gives the reader something to keep in the back of their mind. Your way of seeing the world becomes influenced by others, and soon it transforms into something different than before you took the time to read.

Letter: Further Reflection on Your Performance
Your work in the Fishbowl is a representation of yourself. What symbols you choose, the stories you share, and the voice you convey are all representative of who you are. For many people in class, this is the only way they will be familiar with you. You have to be conscious of the image you’re building of yourself in the minds of your audience. The way the group transforms is based off their favorite (or least favorite) parts of the personality you take-on online.

Letter: Reorienting One’s Vision – The Return
Learning doesn’t occur if you’re not willing to strive to be better. When we leave our work in the Fishbowl, it’s a sign of giving up. It’s a visual act of abandonment in regards to your work and your will to genuinely learn. By not returning to the site, you can never get closer to the deeper learning you are meant to be doing.

Letter: Recounting Anecdotes and Honoring Lived Experiences
You honor your lived experiences by fully conveying them in my opinion. When you convey them in an honorable way, you make them in the image of what they were for you. You capture details, emotions, and thoughts you had. You want to pick symbols that are representative of the experience.

Letter: Constructing Social Memories (345)
The Fishbowl is a footprint of your past in the course, and shows the beginning of your learning. It allows you to have a visual track record of your learning and development. You can bring those pieces of your past in the course to help propel yourself forward. You can revisit writings in the past and dig deeper.

Letter: Cybernetics and Your Fishbowls
The Fishbowl is a place of unending revision and progress. It is a tool to see the flexibility and reformation of structures. You are changing structures with the algorithm, breaking them down, rebuilding, and repeating the process. The ability to bounce from periods of time, past, present, and future, shows the ability to change structures.

Letter: Please Fact-Check your Virtual Products in your Fishbowls
With the abstract coming up, we have to fact-check by taking the time to get the details of our work down and accurate. Getting the details on our work and going back to reframe our text is important as we get closer to submission for the abstract. In order to get the best product, we need self-reflection and accuracy.

Letter: Complex Adaptive Systems – The Art of Improvisation
Adaptation is the ability to improvise and be content with the choice you were forced to make. When you have to improvise, and it ends up being successful, that is adaptation. Changes that we have no control over force us to make decisions that can either be detrimental or successful. Personally, I don’t like to deviate from my original plan, but being able to quickly develop an alternative is a useful skill. Plans are often derailed by your own destructive actions, or uncontrollable circumstances, but they’re necessary for the advancement of your own thinking.

Letter: The Opening Paragraphs
Workplace friendship is an interesting way to think about the Fishbowl, and the class as a whole. You don’t go into a class thinking “time to work on making friends.” It’s through the introduction that I realized that this class is dependent on the positive relationships we make with each other. It’s clear not only from the small groupings, but the social meeting, and the reliance on your groupmates to get the work done. This friendship is what allows us to share a more real and personal version of ourselves through our text.

Letter: Inching Along on the Friendship Abstract
Experiencing a thing and a word at the same time is something that I liked in this letter. You don’t realize that you’re experiencing words with everything you do. Everything in your life can be described, everything is words. We are able to describe every aspect of life because no matter what language we speak, we have a way to translate that into words, symbols, and text.

Letter: Workplace Friendship – A Social Reflexive Exercise
“Friendship is a choice.” I liked this part of the letter because it emphasizes the fact that the friendships, we built in the Fishbowl were all continual commitments. When we became friends with the people in our groups, we had to uphold communication. Essentially, uphold the Fishbowl communication. Trust could only be built by continually being brave enough to post your thoughts. When you open up, the people around you want to open up as well.

Letter: Framing the Second Abstract
Like the algorithm, the paper needs to be revisited and edited many times before the deeper meaning can accurately be conveyed. It’s relatable to the deeper learning that we strive for. With the paper, we have to make sure that our submission creates value, because if it doesn’t it’s a waste of time to the readers.
